Exemplar Health Care Opens New Complex Care Home In Coventry
Exemplar Health Care is celebrating the opening of its brand-new Coventry care home.
Situated on the site of the former St Nicholas Church on Sherwood Jones Close in Radford, Birch View supports adults living with complex needs arising from mental health conditions, dementia, neuro-disabilities, and physical disabilities.
Birch View provides nurse-led care in a community-based home for adults who might otherwise be supported in a more acute hospital setting or have to move away from the local area to find appropriate support. By enabling people to receive this type of complex care locally, Birch View helps people with complex needs stay connected to family, friends, and their community.
The home has 38 bedrooms with ensuite wet rooms, split across three units. This small group living approach means team members can get to know each person well and can tailor support to their individual needs and preferences.
The home includes communal dining and living spaces, sensory bathrooms, an activities hub, a therapy room, and a large accessible garden where people can spend time outdoors.
Designed by Watson Batty Architects and built by Deeley Construction, the development has transformed a previously disused site into a purpose-built complex needs care home that incorporates features that reflect the character and heritage of the former church building.
Sukai Drummeh, Home Manager at Birch View care home, said:
“We’re incredibly proud to officially open Birch View and provide local people with greater access to this type of complex care home service within their local community. Our aim has always been to create a home that feels welcoming, supportive, and empowering for the people who live here, and it’s fantastic to now see that vision come to life.
“We’ve built a compassionate and dedicated team that is committed to making a positive difference every day and helping people live fulfilling lives. Our team takes time to understand what matters to each person, so people feel listened to, and supported in ways that reflect their routines, relationships, and goals.
“The new home has also created valuable healthcare jobs in the local area, and we’re excited to continue welcoming new colleagues who share our values and passion for delivering outstanding care. We’re looking forward to becoming part of the local community and supporting people across Coventry for many years to come.”
