Exemplar Health Care Honours Team Members Across its Services at 2026 Values Awards
Exemplar Health Care has recognised colleagues who have brought its values to life over the past 12 months – including teamwork, integrity and responsiveness, and a shared focus on improving outcomes for the people it supports – at its Values Awards 2026.
More than 3,500 nominations were received from across Exemplar Health Care’s services, with colleagues recognised at both home and regional level before finalists gathered at a national awards ceremony on 14 April to announce the overall winners.
This year’s overall winner is Clare Crowder, Catering Manager at Greenside Court in Rotherham, recognised for her person-centred approach to dining and support for residents. Andrew Mosley, Maintenance Technician at Wheldale Heights in Castleford, was named overall runner-up for his role in creating a positive and inclusive environment within the home.
Since joining Greenside Court in July 2025, Clare Crowder has transformed the home’s dining experience through a truly person-centred and holistic approach to catering.
Taking time to understand everyone, Clare regularly meets with resident in her home, along with team members and management to help shape how care services are developed.
From this, Clare has been able to better understand their preferences, enabling her to design personalised menus that reflect people’s tastes, needs and choices. Her introduction of a flexible ‘café menu’ has helped encourage independence, giving people greater control over what they eat day-to-day.
Clare is also empowering residents through initiatives such as her ‘Cooking with Clare’ sessions, where residents are supported to prepare meals themselves. Recent sessions have included making homemade prawn curry and onion bhajis, helping to build independence, confidence and a sense of community.
Reflecting on the win, Clare said: “For me, it’s really important to get to know the people we support. I attend service user meetings and also spend time one-to-one with those who can’t attend, which helps me build relationships and understand their preferences and dietary needs.
Being present at mealtimes has also given me a better understanding of things like swallowing difficulties, so I can adapt menus to suit each person.
I’ve also had interest from other homes about sharing what I do, whether that’s through shadowing or training, which is something I’d really like to support.”
Runner-up Andrew Mosley has been recognised for the vital role he plays in creating a positive, inclusive community at Wheldale Heights, Castleford.
As a Maintenance Technician, Andrew combines technical expertise with a strong commitment to making every day better for residents and colleagues. Known as the “heart and soul” of the home, he brings energy and humour into daily life: whether through activities, conversations, or simply being present for those around him.
Andrew’s role extends beyond maintenance, supporting wider teams and contributing to a strong sense of community within the home. He works collaboratively across services on site, including supporting a neighbouring unit, and is always ready to respond, often going above and beyond.
Speaking about the recognition, Andrew said: “It’s really nice to be recognised. I just try to bring a bit of fun into the day and be there for people whenever I can. Whether it’s fixing something, having a chat or getting involved in activities, I just want everyone to enjoy being here.”
