Double Success as Trewartha House Ranked Among the Best in the SW

A Cornish care home is celebrating after being ranked among the very best care homes in the region in two separate surveys of residents, friends and family.

Cornwall Care’s Trewartha House home in Carbis Bay near St Ives has been ranked the highest in Cornwall and Devon by its residents’ families’ and friends in the latest Your Care Rating survey.

Trewartha scored 955 from a possible 1,000 after family and friends were asked to judge Trewartha across four categories: staff and care; home comforts; having a say and quality of life. This compares to an average score of 828 nationally, and 845 for homes in Devon and Cornwall, the highest regional average in the UK.

Trewartha has also been recommended as one of the top 20 care homes in the South West, and one of only two in the top 20 in Cornwall for the third year running

by national care homes review website www.carehome.co.uk.

The survey also ranked Cornwall Care as one of the top 20 mid-size care providers in the country, with nine of its 16 care homes scoring nine or above out of a possible 10. The highest scoring was Trewartha, with 9.9.

Robert Black, chief executive of Cornwall Care, said:

“We are delighted to see Trewartha and Cornwall Care ranked so highly especially because these results are based on feedback from friends and family, and residents themselves. It is testament to the hard work of our skilled and caring staff who really do go the extra mile for people in our care.”

Trewartha is a 36-bed home specialising in dementia and nursing care.

Among the many positive reviews for Trewartha cited by www.carehome.co.uk was the following from February this year: “Trewartha House has looked after our dad for about 9 weeks and me and my family are really over the moon for him to be there. He has dementia and they are so patient and kind with him. I would recommend the home and each and every staff member are lovely and most of all, dad is really happy here.”
