Coventry Care Home Marks Diwali Celebrations With Bollywood Dancing
Residents and staff at HC-One’s Victoria Mews Care Home in Coventry, West Midlands, celebrated Diwali, the festival of lights, from Thursday, October 31 to Friday, November 1, with an array of celebrations to mark the occasion.
Diwali is a religious observance that is commemorated by Hindus, Sikhs, Jains and some Buddhists, which symbolises the triumph of good over evil. Every autumn, the observance sees millions of people attend firework displays, prayer services and festive events to mark the occasion.
A core theme of the festival, as symbolised by the prevalence lights, is the triumph of good over evil. Diwali was celebrated at HC-One’s Victoria Mews Care Home in Coventry, West Midlands, by hosting their own Bollywood dancing class for residents and colleagues.
Rani, from the Bollywood Dance Company, came to HC-One’s Victoria Mews Care Home to help residents and staff mark their Diwali celebrations. Residents and staff dressed up for the occasion in traditional clothing and accessories, including masquerade masks, parasols, garlands, and hats.
Residents chose their chosen musical instrument including tambourines and maracas. Michael David, HC-One’s Victoria Mews Care Home Manager, revealed what Diwali means to residents.

We were delighted to celebrate Diwali by hosting a Bollywood dancing session which residents and colleagues thoroughly enjoyed participating in, everyone had so much fun!”
