Cider And Sausages On The Menu

A sizzling time was had by all at a Dorchester care home’s first Cider and Sausage Festival.

Residents, their friends, family and local people enjoyed the event at Colten Care’s Castle View care home in Poundbury.

Visitors – including Dorchester Mayor Richard Biggs – were offered a choice of five taster ciders on arrival followed by a choice of specially made sausages by award-winning Peter Treble Butchers.

Music from sea shanties singers the Dorset Wrecks was also on the menu along with a charity raffle in aid of the Dorchester Opportunity Group with a luxury hamper donated by the Duchy of Cornwall as first prize.

Resident Joyce Cornish said: “Everyone enjoyed the day, it was good fun.”

Fellow resident Sylvia King added: “The day was a great success.”

Colten Companion team leader Marianne Price said: “It was our first Cider and Sausage Festival, and everybody had a lovely time.

“The Mayor stayed to chat and it was great to see local people from Poundbury come along too.

“Our thanks to everyone who joined in the fun, donated prizes for the raffle and supported the event in any way.”
