Staff from four care homes in Stockton and Hartlepool took to the tills at Tesco to help shoppers with their packing.
The nurses, carers, activity coordinators and managers collected donations to help with the fight against dementia – with funds going towards research.
The bag packers at the Durham Road store, in Stockton, came from four Hill Care Group homes, including:
- Ingleby Care Home, Lamb Lane, Ingleby Barwick
- Mandale House Care Home, Acklam Road Thornaby
- The Beeches Care Home, Green Lane, Newtown
- Queens Meadow Care Home, Stockton Road, Hartlepool.
Liz Jones, Customer Relations Officer for Hill Care, said: “The day was amazing, with so many friendly, helpful people contributing to a great cause.
“We’re running a series of events across the Hill Care Group to raise funds for the Alzheimer’s Society – including cake sales and coffee mornings.
“We also have a charity cycle ride in our homes in Stockton, Middlesbrough and Hartlepool from March 20th to 24th.
“Staff and volunteers at five of our homes will attempt a 300-mile static bike relay – matching our Managing Director Wendy Waddicor’s charity ride from London to Paris in the summer.
“We’re looking for as much support as possible so anyone wanting to get involved or donate should contact their nearest Hill Care home. You can find more on our website – www.hillcare.net.”
