Care Home Residents Enjoy A Surprise Visit From The Mayor Of Colchester

Residents and staff at a care home in Colchester were overjoyed recently as they received a surprise visit from the Mayor of Colchester.

Councillor Robert Davidson visited Crouched Friars Care Home on 22nd September and enjoyed a spot of afternoon tea with residents and staff.

Cllr Davidson took a keen interest in the residents and was kind enough to spend time speaking individually with all of the residents and staff. He asked the residents about how they’re feeling following the ease of lockdown restrictions and what future plans they have  at Crouched Friars.

Residents were very inquisitive and asked the Mayor questions about his life, his background, and what it is like to be a Mayor. Some of the ladies were particularly curious about the Mayors’ civic regalia chains and The Mayor was kind enough to let the residents hold his chains and told them exactly how much they weigh.

Paulina Eagle, Home Manager at Crouched Friars, commented: “It has been wonderful showing Councillor Davidson around our beautiful home and to be able to discuss some of our key initiatives around the person-centred lifestyle we deliver. He is truly such a down to earth, friendly person and it was a joy to welcome him to Crouched Friars.

“All of our residents had such a lovely time whilst chatting with the Mayor. They all thanked him for his visit, it really did create such a buzz in the home, which was lovely to see.”
