Care Home Residents Create Seven Foot Butterfly Artwork for Dementia Awareness

Residents at Arplemere care home in Warrington, part of Crystal Care Collection, have created a spectacular 7ft butterfly artwork in support of Dementia Action Week.

The project saw residents and community members crochet hundreds of small forget-me-not flowers; a symbol closely associated with dementia awareness.

The handcrafted flowers were then carefully attached to a display, creating a colourful and meaningful piece of art.

Resident Sheila Wycherley, said, ‘What a great project to be part of. All the residents worked together to produce such a lovely forget me not display for dementia awareness’
Laura Aspin, General Manager at Arplemere, added,

“This project has been a wonderful example of what can be achieved when residents and the wider community come together.

“The butterfly is not only a beautiful piece of artwork but also a powerful symbol of awareness, support and the importance of recognising the experiences of those living with dementia. We are incredibly proud and thankful to everyone who contributed.”
