Care Home Brings Oktoberfest Spirit To Consett

Residents, colleagues, and special guests at HC-One’s Greenways Court Care Home, in Consett, kick-started this month with a day of food, festivities, and fun as the home hosted its very own Oktoberfest celebration.

The home was transformed with Bavarian-inspired decorations, accordion music, and a spread of authentic German dishes, including bratwurst, sauerkraut, and apple strudel. Residents and visitors also enjoyed themed games, quizzes, and plenty of laughter, as the event was filled with the sights, sounds, and tastes of the famous Bavarian festival.

As part of the celebration, games and quizzes were held with an Oktoberfest twist, ensuring everyone could get involved and enjoy the day. The laughter and cheer highlighted the importance of coming together as a community and making lasting memories.

The celebration was made even more memorable by the attendance of HC-One leaders, including Chief Executive Officer James Tugendhat, Chief Operations Officer Stephen Butterworth, Managing Director Nicola Bales, Area Director Lynn Lant, and Business Partners Sarah Routledge and Katie Heslop. Their presence brought a wonderful sense of connection between residents, colleagues, and the wider HC-One family.

Adding to the fun, James enthusiastically served residents traditional German beer, while Stephen joined in the festivities by handing out raffle tickets. Laughter and smiles filled the room as residents enjoyed themed games, quizzes, and music that brought a taste of Bavaria to County Durham.

Speaking after the event, Kinga Kowaliczek, HC-One’s Greenways Court Care Home Manager, said:
“It was a fabulous day here at Greenways Court. Residents really enjoyed taking part in our Oktoberfest celebrations, and it was wonderful to see so many smiles and happy faces. Having our senior colleagues join us made the day even more memorable.”
