Care Home And School Donate Clothing, Essentials And Food To Support Jamaica Hurricane Relief
Residents at Bullsmoor Lodge Care Home in Waltham Cross have joined forces with pupils from Heron Hall Academy to support recovery efforts in Jamaica – donating 40 bags of clothing and essential items, along with three boxes of dry food, to families affected by the recent hurricane.
Care Home Manager Lisa Coombs learnt about the school’s collection and immediately wanted to get involved. Many Bullsmoor Lodge staff members are originally from Jamaica and have relatives who have been directly impacted by the disaster, making the appeal especially close to the home’s heart.
The donations were delivered to Tropical Village, a Jamaican grocery store in Enfield, which partnered with the school as the main drop-off point and coordinated transport of the items overseas.
Lisa said: “So many of our staff have loved ones who have been devastated by the hurricane, and we felt we had to help in any way we could. The generosity shown by our residents, staff and their families has been incredible. It’s been truly heart-warming to see our community come together to support people facing such difficult times.”
One carer at Bullsmoor Lodge, added:
“Watching the impact of the hurricane from afar has been really hard, especially knowing our families are living through it. Being able to contribute essentials and feel like we’re making some difference means the world to all of us.”
