Sheldon Childress, Head Chef at Boulters Lock Care Home in Maidenhead, has been shortlisted as one the Nation’s top 5 Chefs in Care at the Cost Sector Catering Awards, a prestigious competition that covers the entire UK Catering Industry. The awards have become the premier event in the catering calendar and a fantastic way to celebrate the stunning quality and high standards across the catering sector.
To make it through to this shortlist is an amazing achievement, but it comes as no surprise to the residents and family carers at Boulters loch that know Sheldon and enjoy his food every day.
Sheldon now has a nervous wait to see if he wins the top spot and will find out during a glittering awards dinner and ceremony in London on 31st March 2016. Sheldon will also be joined by his lovely partner, Ashleigh, Hartford Care’s CEO Sean Gavin, other senior Hartford Care team members as well as Dan Bree, Head Chef from Hartford Care’s Hartwood House Care Home in the New Forest who has also been shortlisted as a finalist in this category. Amazingly, Hartford Care have 2 of the 5 nominations for the UKs best Chef in Care.
Sean Gavin said “This is an amazing achievement for both Sheldon and Dan but thoroughly deserved and we are all delighted for them. Hartford Care has always placed great emphasis on the food in our care homes as it plays such a central role in the quality off the lives of our residents. To have one of our Chefs recognised in this way would be amazing; to have both Dan and Sheldon shortlisted is simply unbelievable. We are all so proud of them both!”
Sheldon said of his shortlisting “I love cooking and love making the resident’s lives special and that is why I do what I do but it was still a really nice and proud moment to have been nominated by my peers for this award. I am genuinely surprised to have got this far and be in the top 5 and attending a Black Tie dinner at the London Hilton with a chance to win a prize as the best Chef in the Care Catering Award. I am very excited, and looking forward to a special night with my partner.”
Everyone at Hartford Care wishes them both the very best of luck.
