Belong Shortlisted For Best Employer Award At National Ceremony

Belong-LogoSpecialist care operator, Belong, which runs five care villages in the North West, has been shortlisted for a prestigious national care award for its commitment to investing in its people and providing high quality care to customers.

Belong is in the running for a Skills for Care Accolade, a national award recognising care organisations for their commitment to developing their workforce and, in turn, improving the services and care available to their customers. Employing over 700 people across five villages in the region, Belong is one of four organisations to be shortlisted to take home the ‘best employer of over 250 staff’ award.

Speaking about the nomination, Phil Orton, Head of People at Belong, commented: “We were delighted to hear that Belong had been shortlisted for a Skills for Care Accolade. Belong has been recognised for many things, from our buildings to our services, however our people are undoubtedly at the core of Belong’s success. Our staff live and breathe Belong and our values, so we believe that they deserve to be recognised and celebrated for their hard work.”

Now in their 13th year, the Skills for Care Accolades celebrate excellence in the growing adult social care workforce, and aim to reward the commitment and dedication of support workers who continue to develop their skills and knowledge to offer outstanding, personalised care to customers. Drawing on over 20 years of experience providing care and support for older people, Belong have received a number of industry awards and have been nationally recognised as leaders in dementia care.

Phil added: “It is important to us that we offer person-centred care for our customers, but it is equally important that we take the same approach to our staff. Everybody is encouraged to pursue qualifications and achieve their potential because we recognise that we need to invest in our people in order to support our customers to enjoy an outstanding quality of life. This approach to people development makes Belong a rewarding place to work, reflected by the readiness of our staff to champion the brand, and we’re delighted that this has been nationally recognised.”

Since being shortlisted, representatives from Skills for Care have visited Belong to speak with staff and confirm the nomination ahead of the final selection process. Winners will be announced at an awards ceremony on 10th March in Birmingham.
