Barchester Thanks ‘Amazing’ Nurses This International Nurses’ Day

BarchesterThis International Nurses’ Day, Barchester Healthcare has thanked the fantastic nurses working in its care homes and hospitals across the UK.

The care provider has presented its nurses with travel mugs and thank you cards to mark the day, while the company’s senior team have said how proud they are of every Barchester nurse.

Prof Trish Morris-Thompson, Director of Quality and Clinical Governance and Chief Nurse at Barchester Healthcare said: “Nursing is a hugely challenging career, which requires passion, spirit, intelligence, dedication and resilience. That’s why it’s fantastic to see not only Barchester, but the whole sector, singing nurses’ praises today and showing their appreciation for all their hard work. Thank you to all of our nurses – you are amazing and your dedication makes a big difference to the lives of the people we care for and support.”

Julia Atherton, Barchester’s Director of Care and Quality said: “International Nurses Day is a chance to celebrate the important role our nurses play in improving the lives of people we care for and support.

“Each visit I make to our homes gives me confidence that we have some of the best nurses in the sector. I would like to personally thank all our nurses for their continued commitment and I hope they celebrate and enjoy today!”

Julia added: “Last night I attended Westminster Abbey for the commemorative service celebrating the life of Florence Nightingale. It was inspiring to see the Abbey full of nurses from student to retired, dressed in traditional to modern day uniform.”

Nurses have an important role in care homes, ensuring that residents receive the best possible quality care daily and their expertise and dedication is crucial to delivering excellent services.

Registered Nurses also form bonds with the relatives of each individual in their care.  They understand the difficulties that relatives and friends may face when someone close to them moves in to a care setting.  They work hard to ensure that positive relationships are developed, so that family and friends feel supported.
