Avery Go The Extra Mile In Fundraising

Care provider Avery Healthcare embraced ‘Going the Extra Mile’ this year at their events, where they raised over £10,000 for The Care Workers Charity.

Avery Healthcare operates residential, dementia and nursing care homes throughout the UK, providing the highest possible standards of care for their residents and are a gold sponsor for the charity. This summer, 55 of Avery’s care homes came together to run, jump, skip, walk or dance as they fundraised – making sure to have plenty of fun along the way.

Staff and residents at Rowan Court Care Home in Newcastle-under-Lyme cycled in specially designed, wheelchair-friendly bikes around their local lake. Four residents at Acorn Lodge Care Home in Nuneaton knitted a mile of yarn into a giant scarf. Amarna House Care Home, located in York, donned feather boas and danced their mile in a giant conga line, before hosting a sponsored car wash to fundraise even more.

The bad weather didn’t stop them either! Many of Avery’s homes hosted sponsored walks around their beautiful gardens, while others set up stationary bikes or cross-trainers in their receptions and lounges to complete as many miles as possible during the event. From this one event, the care homes raised an incredible £6,348.66.

Avery also joined in with the Care Workers Charity’s night-time Snowdon Trek. Staff from a number of their care homes joined in, climbing to the very top of the mountain (despite the rain and fog on the night) and raised a further £3,959. This has brought Avery’s 2019 fundraising total for the Care Workers Charity to an amazing £10,637.66.
