Anchor Teams Win An Array Of Awards This Autumn

Award-winning teams across Anchor have gathered a clutch of trophies for outstanding work this month.

Augusta Court care home in Chichester gained the Institute of Excellence Award at the West Sussex Care Accolades, while Otley’s Teal Beck House colleagues Holly Conway and Sharon Choppen were named winner of the Best Care Newcomer and runner-up for the Nutrition and Hydration awards respectively at the Great Yorkshire and Humber Care Awards. Holly now goes forward to the national awards to be held next spring.

Elsewhere in the North West and Yorkshire region, Susan Kay, housekeeper at Prior Bank care home, Sheffield, was named runner-up for the Ancillary Worker award at the same ceremony.

And at Mulberry Court, Hull, the retirement housing scheme won the Park Area Neighbourhood Network Group of the Year 2014 for linking up with other community groups to develop community spirit and a safer environment.

Mulberry Court Scheme Managers Lorraine Firth and Alison Radesk (pictured with customers above) said: “Since joining the network, we have become part of the Neighbourhood Watch Scheme and involved our tenants in ways they can come together and make a real contribution to improving their lives. We were nominated by one of the local groups and are absolutely delighted to have won.”

Karen Coady, Home Manager at Teal Beck House, said: “Holly has powered through all of her training and has recently been registered for her Diploma in Care level 2 which she is on track to complete in three months. Holly displays all the Anchor behaviours and puts them into practice on a daily basis. We are extremely proud of her progress and achievements and I see a bright future ahead for her.

“Sharon knows our customers very well and this enables us to support those who are nutritionally at risk and enables us to provide a great and social dining experience with consistently great food. Her themed restaurant evenings cooking food from around the world are famous in Otley and always attract a crowd of customers and their friends and families!”

For Augusta Court, winning the West Sussex accolade is a great sense of pride. Home Manager Simanti Nandi said: “We feel honoured to be recognised by the council and feel privileged to have won in this category – we believe in creating a great ambience of a home-from-home for all our residents.”
