Spellman Care Triumphs at Keighley & Airedale Business Awards for Exceptional Person-Led Care
Independent family-run care provider Spellman Care is celebrating after being named Health and Wellbeing Business of the Year at the Keighley and Airedale Business Awards, at a black-tie ceremony at Victoria Hall in Keighley on September 25..
The evening brought together businesses from across the region to celebrate community excellence, hosted by popular TV weather presenter Paul Hudson.
Taking to the stage to accept the trophy from Paul Hudson, Spellman Care Operations Manager Philippa Young dedicated the victory to the entire team across West and North Yorkshire.
In her remarks, Philippa dedicated the award to every team member, noting how it recognises the innate kindness and small, everyday actions carried out for residents; those quiet gestures that can sometimes go unnoticed, but together create truly person-led care. She remarked that when caring for residents, the little things truly are the big things.
The award also recognised Spellman Care’s community initiatives, particularly the launch of the Airedale Seniors Collective, a mobile project tackling loneliness across the Aire Valley through local gatherings, which welcomed around 50 local seniors at its first meeting alone.
Following the ceremony, team members caught up with local MP Robbie Moore and Paul Hudson to discuss ongoing projects like the Seniors Collective and extend an invitation for them to join future events.

The Keighley and Airedale Business Award victory comes in the same month as several other prestigious accolades for Spellman Care.
Spellman Care has secured two finalist nominations at the Bradford Cares Excellence Awards in the Wellbeing and Activities Initiative of the Year category, recognising both the ‘Adopt a Grandfriend’ partnership (featured on BBC Radio Leeds) and the Airedale Seniors Collective, which was recently featured on the Skills for Care website as part of their ‘Good News Friday’ feature. Winners will be announced on 5th November at the Cedar Court Hotel, Bradford.
Spellman Care was also named Best Family-Run Care Home Group – Yorkshire at the Acquisition International Family Business Awards, celebrating their local legacy and high-quality care.
National recognition continues with three team members reaching the finals of the Social Care Leadership Awards. Operations Manager Philippa Young has been shortlisted in the Executive Care Home Leader (Small to Medium) category, Craven Nursing Home Manager Steph Bowers in the Clinical Nurse Manager category, and Marketing Manager Peter Chadwick in the Digital Innovator Award category. The national winners will be announced on 13th October at the London Marriott Hotel Grosvenor Square.
