86-Year-Old Terry Walden Takes To The Skies For The Rowans Hospice In Memory Of Beloved Wife

On Saturday 27th July 2024, Terry Walden, an 86-year-old local hero, will be taking on an extraordinary challenge to raise funds for The Rowans Hospice. Terry, who recently lost his wife Zena, will be performing a wing walk, an aerial stunt involving standing on the wings of an aircraft during flight. This courageous act will take place in Weymouth, Dorset, and aims to honour Zena’s memory while supporting the hospice that provided her with exceptional care during her final days.

Zena Walden, Terry’s beloved wife, and devoted mother to David and his brother, spent her last few weeks at The Rowans Hospice. She succumbed to her battle with various forms of cancer in March 2024. The compassionate care and comfort provided by The Rowans Hospice deeply touched Terry and his family, inspiring him to give back in a significant way.

Terry’s wing walk is more than just a personal challenge; it’s a heartfelt tribute to Zena and a mission to raise much-needed funds for the hospice. The Rowans Hospice relies heavily on donations to continue offering palliative and end-of-life care to patients and their families. Terry’s daring endeavour underscores the profound impact that the hospice had on his family and their desire to support its ongoing efforts.

David, Terry’s stepson, expressed his admiration and support for Terry’s bold undertaking:
“My step-dad’s bravery and determination to honour my mum’s memory in such a spectacular way is truly inspiring. We are incredibly proud of him and hope that this event will not only raise funds but also awareness for the vital work that The Rowans Hospice does.”
