World Alzheimer’s Month Is Here

AlzThis month marks the start of World Alzheimer’s Month, the global campaign to raise awareness of dementia and tackle stigma worldwide. World Alzheimer’s Day is on the 21 September.

Throughout the month, Alzheimer associations around the world will form a united voice, holding events, sponsored activities and advocating to governments and key policy makers for a better life for people living with dementia everywhere.

It is also a time for reflection, on the experience of 47 million people living with dementia and their family carers, but also remembering those that are sadly no longer with us.

Progress has been made, with more and more countries developing national dementia strategies and the likely adoption of a draft global action plan on dementia by the World Health Assembly in May 2017, but the stigmatisation and misinformation that surrounds dementia remains a global problem.

Every 3 seconds, someone in the world develops dementia. Please support the campaign by joining the global voice on dementia this month, by visiting the World Alzheimer’s Month website http://www.alz.co.uk/ and using the hashtags #RememberMe #WAM2016.
