Well-Known Resident Keeps Everyone Entertained at Glennfield

Earlier this year, Glennfield Care Home welcomed well-known actor, Ernie into their home as a resident.

Ernie was born in Goa and shot to fame in the 1960s when his song ‘I Married a Female Wrestler’ made it onto the most popular radio station in South Asia, Radio Ceylon. The song was played to an audience of millions of people and to this day, remains popular with many people from South Asia.

After moving to London and becoming well known in the UK, Ernie began his acting career appearing in the popular police drama, ‘The Bill’. This successful television debut led Ernie to appear on ‘Hotel Babylon’ and Cilla Black’s TV series, ‘Surprise, Surprise’.

Ernie went on to star in Andrew Lloyd-Webber’s ‘Bombay Dreams,’ in the West End, TV series Murphy’s Law, and later in his career, made an appearance in Coronation Street. It’s fair to say Ernie has enjoyed a successful career in the entertainment industry and at Glennfield, his talents have been well enjoyed amongst residents and team members.

Ernie still loves to sing and uses his talents to make people smile. During a recent team appreciation event, Ernie was the MC of the karaoke session and is a key member of the Glennfield choir.

Ernie continues to share his talents with the people who live and work at Glennfield – it’s like having an entertainer with them who is ready to perform at any time.

At Glennfield Care Home, we’re sure Ernie will continue to shine as he has done throughout his career.
