Walking Provides A Positive Wellbeing Focus

Walking their way to wellness is the KTN Group who have introduced pedometers into their working day to improve mental and physical wellbeing for the whole company whilst raising money for The Care Workers’ Charity.

In consultation with staff this friendly form of free exercise was agreed as a good place to start, and with the simple but effective pedometers the team were off achieving their own goals in their own time and doing much more than they initially anticipated.

Exercise is one of the best things you do for your body and your mind. We all know the facts, not only can being active assist in weight loss but according to the NHS it can reduce the risks of heart disease, stroke, type 2 diabetes, and cancer by up to 50%. Research also shows that physical activity can also boost self-esteem, mood, sleep quality and energy, as well as reducing your risk of stress and depression.

David Leonard, Head of Clinical Services at KTN Group says: “The focus of raising our target figure of £1,000 for The Care Worker’s Charity through our initiative #Move1000Raise1000 has really helped to get people motivated and positive about exercise. It’s great to see our team supporting each other through a friendly competitive spirit to make small but significant changes in their lifestyles.”

Now with much more energy the KTN team are slaying their pedometer goals, from gentle strolls, and moderate step counts of three thousand, to one individual recording an epic 21 thousand steps in one day.

David adds: “The changes are noticeable, we’re a happier team with much more energy to get us through our very busy days. We’ve also noticed a few pounds have been shed and all whilst hundreds of pounds are being raised for The Care Worker’s Charity. It’s such a positive cycle of activity, and the best bit, we’re all really enjoying it.

“The success of the company’s #Move1000Raise1000 has been marked, and I should say, embraced as the catalyst for a new healthy and active workplace culture. Watch this space for a healthy happier KTN Group.”
