Voyage Care Acquires Orchard Healthcare Group

Voyage Care has acquired Orchard Healthcare Group, which provides residential, nursing, dementia and respite care in its 23 care homes across Central and Northern England.

The acquisition expands the specialist expertise within the wider Voyage Care family at a time when more people need complex dementia support close to home. It also creates opportunities for both organisations to learn from one another and build on what each already does well.

Mike McKessar, Chief Executive of Voyage Care, said: “We are delighted to welcome Orchard Healthcare Group into the Voyage Care family. What makes this such a strong fit is the common ground between our organisations: specialist, person-centred care delivered in the community, with a focus on helping people with complex needs live fulfilling lives.

“Orchard’s Reconnect model responds to a significant and growing unmet need in complex dementia and mental health care. It is a high-quality model, grounded in the same principles that would shape our own approach to delivering this kind of specialist support. We have real confidence in Orchard’s expertise and colleagues, and together we have a strong platform to share learning and support more people who need specialist care.”

Hayden Knight, Chief Executive of Orchard Healthcare Group, said: “This is a transformational step for both Orchard Healthcare Group and Voyage Care.

“Orchard will continue to build on its established purpose and identity while playing a pivotal role in the group’s future growth, reflecting the strength of its services, people and reputation.

“The alignment between Orchard and Voyage Care makes this a natural fit. By combining our complementary expertise and shared commitment to high-quality care, we’re creating a stronger organisation with greater opportunities to invest, innovate and improve outcomes for the people we support.”
