Volunteers Celebrated At Peterlee Care Home

CHOCOLATES and flowers have been handed to volunteers at a Peterlee care home as a thank you for their “invaluable” support.

Bannatyne Lodge Care Home, on Manor Way, is marking National Volunteer Week by recognising those who give their time to work with the residents.

One of those is Christine Young, who provides hairdresser services for the residents, as well as support on trips, events and fundraisers.

Among the others are Ken Fortune, Marion Hern and Mary Slessor, who have given over 10 years to volunteering at Bannatyne Lodge.

Lynn Chapman, home manager, said: “All our volunteers had a relative in Bannatyne Lodge and they have continued to give their support on a weekly basis even though their relatives have now passed away.

“We are always grateful for the invaluable support they provide and National Volunteer Week was a great opportunity for us to show them how much they mean to everyone at Bannatyne Lodge.”
