Three Unique 25th Anniversaries Celebrated At Rotherham Care Home

Cherry Trees Care Home in Kimberworth Park, welcomed the Mayor of Rotherham, Councillor Robert Taylor this week, to celebrate at a party held for three unique 25th anniversaries.

Run by Orchard Care Homes, Cherry Trees has marked 25 years of providing residential and dementia-friendly care as part of the Rotherham community. Marie Dearnley, Deputy Manager, and popular resident Michael Melber have worked and lived at the care home respectively since it first opened its doors in March 1999.

Marie started her career as a Care Assistant in the night team and worked her way up Orchard Care Homes’ ‘Step up the career ladder’ scheme. She said, “I have loved working here in all that time. Every day is different, and I am proud of being able to offer the best possible care to those who need it. I can’t quite believe the Mayor and Mayoress made their journey over to Cherry Trees to celebrate with us. I am overjoyed.”

25th-anniversary resident Michael said, “The mayor is wearing all his jewels just for us, how wonderful.” Gordon, who also lives at Cherry Trees said, “It was a privilege meeting the mayor and his lovely wife, the mayoress. Very glad we could meet them and even more so that they let me take some pictures with their official car. I will treasure that moment.”

Visitors, colleagues and those who call Cherry Trees home danced and sang together with live entertainer Paul Barry, who performed some favourite songs and cracked some timeless jokes. Care home colleagues put on a huge spread with wine and spritzers for all to enjoy and mark the happy occasion.

Cherry Trees Care Home offers respite care and residential care for those living with all types of Dementia, including Alzheimer’s. It is rated as one of the Top 20 care homes for Yorkshire and The Humber.
