Thornaby Care Home Mark Queen’s 90th Birthday
THE QUEEN’s 90th birthday will be celebrated by residents at Mandale House Care Home in Thornaby.
The home held an arts and crafts afternoon yesterday (23rd March) for the residents to make birthday cards to mark the occasion.
The cards will be sent ahead of Queen Elizabeth II’s birthday on 21st April. Numerous celebrations are taking place around the country throughout April, May and June to mark the milestone.
Christine Reason, Manager at Mandale House, on Acklam Road, said: “Our residents are huge admirers of the Queen, many being a similar age to her Majesty, and they remember her Coronation at Westminster Abbey in 1953.
“As her 90th birthday is such a big milestone, we thought it would be a good opportunity for our residents to express their appreciation and respect, as well as their creativity, by creating birthday cards.”
