The Manor House Whickham Rated ‘Outstanding’ By CQC
The Manor House Whickham has been awarded an ‘Outstanding’ rating by the Care Quality Commission (CQC).
CQC inspectors made an unannounced, three day visit to the home recently in order to carry out a comprehensive assessment. They interviewed residents and their families as well as members of staff and the management team. In addition to reviewing the records maintained by the home, they sought feedback from the local authority and other professionals who work with the home. The CQC assessors also sought information regarding The Manor House from Healthwatch, an independent national champion which gathers information and represents the views of the public about health and social care services in England.
Jane Tworkowski, home manager of The Manor House said: “I’m so proud of the entire team on receiving this fantastic ‘Outstanding’ CQC rating. At The Manor House, we put our residents at the heart of everything we do. We have some wonderful staff, delivering an exceptional service to our residents and I am delighted that this has been officially recognised.”
The CQC inspection report says that “without exception all people and family members were extremely positive about the caring nature of the service provided”.
Mrs Mary Potts, a resident at the home for over three years, said: “At The Manor House, the residents are extremely well cared for and our well-being is at the centre of everything the staff do for us. In addition, the attention given to all aspects of running the home is first class and makes for a clean and comfortable environment to live in.”
The report also says that the home has forged and maintained excellent links with health and social care professionals and the local community, and that “These had a demonstrably positive impact on the emotional wellbeing of people using the service and also meant the local community became more a part of the service. This was exceptional.”
