The Care Catering Sector Celebrates Exceptional And Inspirational Individuals And Teams

NACC Awards 2014 - winnersProfessionals from the care catering sector gathered at the National Association of Care Catering (NACC) Awards 2014 last night to celebrate exceptional achievements and inspirational contributions by individuals and teams that champion continued excellence and best practice.

The uplifting and esteemed awards honour the incredible work of care providers and caterers to ensure those entrusted to their care receive the very highest standards of catering appropriate to individual needs, from nutrition through to social wellbeing.

Amongst the widespread celebrations, the NACC Midlands Region revelled in double triumph scooping both the Community Meals Marketing Award and the Region of the Year Award.

The NACC Awards is a highlight of the NACC National Training & Development Forum. This year’s winners were celebrated in front of 230 peers at a special dinner held on Thursday 2 October the East Midlands Conference Centre, Nottingham.

The 2014 NACC Awards winners are:

  • Care Establishment of the Year Award – Tenlands Care Home – HC-One

Victoria Lee and her team at Tenlands Care Home were praised by the judges for demonstrating an advanced understanding of nutrition but more specifically how it applies to the medical needs of residents.

  • Community Meals Marketing Award – NACC Midlands Region

The judges singled out the NACC Midlands Region for its effective contact with the media that created a genuine interest in the Community Meals Service for the future.

  • Catering Team of the Year Award – County Enterprise Foods – Nottingham County Council

The County Enterprise Foods team scooped the Catering Team of the Year Award after impressing the judges as an outstanding team whose dedication and commitment is very widely recognised.

  • Sustainability Award – Sunrise Senior Living

The judges singled out Sunrise Senior Living for showing that it clearly takes sustainability very seriously and demonstrating a model approach.

  • Catering Manager of the Year – Tracy Williams – Glanffrwd Nursing Home, Bridgend – HC-One

The judges crowned Tracy Williams Catering Manager of the Year, agreeing with the nominator who had observed how the efforts of one person can truly make a difference – namely Tracy.

  • Regional Award – Midlands

In this hotly contested category the judges declared the Midlands the winning region following an intense year of activity and commitment that certainly raised the profile of the NACC.

  • Pam Rhodes Outstanding Service Award – Bev Puxley, Immediate Past Master of the Worshipful Company of Cooks

Bev Puxley was bestowed this award for Outstanding Service by the NACC National Executive Committee, in recognition of his services and commitment to the NACC and the care catering industry.

During his career that spans some 60 years, Bev has committed his considerable talent to delivering excellence to a range of hospitality sectors, including care catering and has become a close and valued friend and colleague of the NACC. He has provided wise council and practical guidance to enable the NACC to forge progressive links between the care catering sector, hospitality education, associated professional bodies and the wider industry.

The award was created in memory of Pam Rhodes who was a loyal and committed friend to the care catering and wider care sector and a name synonymous with the NACC.

  • Chairman’s Award 2014 – Ros Speight, Business Support Manager, Leicestershire County Council

This special gift of the NACC Chairman for exceptional commitment to the NACC was presented to Ros Speight who has been actively committed to the NACC for over, holding both regional and national positions. Ros has been a key figure in putting together many of the NACC guidelines and recommendations and whenever there is a job to be done or help and advice to offer, she is always ready and willing.
