‘Tea-Riffic’ Time For A Cuppa!

From a St David’s-themed afternoon tea to an Alice in Wonderland inspired party, the teams and residents at Sanctuary Care homes enjoyed taking Time for a Cuppa to support Dementia UK.

Wantage Nursing Home in Oxfordshire celebrated all things Welsh of the border with their St David’s Day tea party. The home, which has recently received a ‘Good’ Care Quality Commission rating, was a scene of spring with an abundance of beautiful daffodils.

There was also live music from Shirley Bassey tribute act, Liza Baker, who appeared on this year’s ITV The Voice.

83-year-old resident Sheila Penney (pictured right) said: “The music was fantastic, I requested songs and she sung them beautifully.”

Meanwhile, there were fabulous frocks and roaring 1940s music when the team and residents at Regent Residential Care Home in Worcester took a trip down memory lane for their themed festivities.

The team were dressed to impress in their finest themed attire, with polka dots and a-line skirts galore. There was also toe-tapping music from the era with musical act the Poppy sisters.

90-year-old resident Peggy Digger (pictured bottom right) said: “Everyone looked fabulous, I loved all the dresses – oh and the cakes were delicious too.”

At Riverlee Residential and Nursing Home in Greenwich, London, residents enjoyed a good sing-along at their tea party. There were also a range of other fun activities to enjoy, from ball games and quizzes.

Gladys Mitchell, 87-year-old resident, added: “We all sang together, it was so much fun.”

Elsewhere in Bushbury, Wolverhampton, Highcroft Hall Residential Care Home transported visitors down the rabbit hole with an Alice in Wonderland tea party.

The team dressed as the wonderful characters from the Lewis Carroll classic and residents proudly donned fabulous hats which they handmade for the special occasion.

The Sanctuary Care home’s activities leader Jayne Woods said: “Every year we always host a fun-filled Time for a Cuppa tea party to support Dementia UK and this year was no different. There was fun fancy dress, delicious cakes, great music and our residents enjoyed every minute.

Meadow View Residential Care Home in Hersden, Canterbury, transformed into a dreamy slumberland at their fundraising pyjama party. For a £2 donation the team donned their pyjamas, dressing gowns and onesies to raise extra funds.

91-year-old resident Beryl Palmer said: “The pyjamas were a lot of fun and as always the cakes were perfect.”

Time for a Cuppa is Dementia UK’s annual fundraising event; a national day which brings people together to raise money for the provision of Admiral Nurses, mental health nurses who specialise in dementia care.
