Surrey Carers To Mount The O2 For Charity Project

SurreyKings Lodge care home’s carers clearly have a head for heights as they look to go over the top of the O2 arena in London on 11 April to help raise money to buy a greenhouse for their residents.

The care home in Camberley, Surrey, broke the Guinness World Record for decorating six cupcakes in aid of MacMillan Cancer Support last year and with the help some of the relatives of its residence will this year take on the sponsored challenge of walking over the famous London concert venue and landmark.

The idea was the brain child of Mel Harrison who also did the cupcake challenge. Aura Care Living runs the home and director Peter Lloyd said he was proud of the staff’s efforts: “Mel is always trying to provide a bit of fun in Kings Lodge and different ways for us to all get involved.”

“I am particularly excited about this challenge as I am also going to do it with them. The residents will benefit from the greenhouse as last year we started growing our own vegetables on site. It is great for us all to get involved. If anyone wants to donate they can get in touch on 01276 903132.”
