Surrey Care Home Bids Fond Farewell to Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice with Ceremony

Kings Lodge Care Home, Camberley, is waving farewell to the Phyllis Tuckwell In-Patient Unit which has been based there since 2023. Phyllis Tuckwell provides expert end-of-life care, support and understanding to patients and families across West Surrey and North East Hampshire.

Opened in 1979, Phyllis Tuckwell’s existing Hospice building had reached the end of its useful life and so embarked on a project to build a new Hospice, which will be purpose-built with 18 en-suite rooms, better outpatient facilities, and will act as a hub for the wide range of services which the charity provides across the community.

Operated by Aura Care Living, Kings Lodge will be hosting a Clapping Out Ceremony, on Monday 8 June, from 11:00 am to 12:00pm. The event marks the end of a successful temporary residency by the Phyllis Tuckwell In-Patient Unit.

“We are truly grateful to Kings Lodge for making it possible for us to continue running our In-Patient Unit over the past few years. We have supported over 650 patients and their families over this time, providing them with end-of-life care, support and dignity. It simply wouldn’t have been possible without the partnership with King’s Lodge and the team there,” said Sarah Church, chief executive of Phyllis Tuckwell.

Peter Lloyd is a director of Aura Care Living and said: “The Clapping Out Ceremony will give the Phyllis Tuckwell team a warm and fitting send off, celebrating the partnership between the two organisations and the positive impact it has had on the local community.

“It has been an honour for Kings Lodge to support Phyllis Tuckwell over the past few years. Sharing our home with such a respected community charity has been a privilege for all of us. We wish them the very best as they move into their new facility.”

Sarah Parkin, Registered Manager at Kings Lodge, and Sarah Stobart, Deputy Manager, alongside their care team, have worked closely with the hospice staff to ensure a supportive and compassionate environment for all residents and patients throughout the partnership.

“All are welcome to join us, for this special occasion,” Peter Lloyd added.
