It was smiles all round at the National Happiness Awards as, Kam Hussein was highly commended in the ‘Happiest Employee’ category.
Billed as the UK’s premier happiness and wellbeing event, the awards celebrate the happiness heroes in business, the public sector and schools throughout the UK, so it was brilliant to see Kam representing Bupa on the night.
Kam was nominated for his work at Bupa’s Cottingley Hall care home in Bingley, where he holds roles across both the housekeeping and maintenance teams.
While juggling two roles might be a challenge for some, Kam excels at both while still finding time to make our residents smile.
For example, he regularly goes into the home on his days off to spend time with residents, even undertaking tasks like decorating their rooms, as he knows what a positive difference it will make.
As a result, our residents love him and appreciate that he not only takes the time to check they’re okay, but also to make them laugh.
And it’s not just the residents that Kam looks out for; he goes above and beyond to ensure his colleagues are happy too. His upbeat attitude is infectious and has a great impact on staff morale.
His teammates have told us how he helps create a wonderful atmosphere where people feel happy to come to work and that they are amongst friends. In fact, one colleague told us how it was seeing Kam with residents that inspired her to pursue a career in care.
Speaking about Kam’s success, Joan Elliott, Managing Director for Bupa Care Services, said: “Being happy at work is so important, not only for doing the best for our residents, but ensuring that we can end the day with a smile on our face.
“Thank you, Kam, for everything you do at Cottingley Hall. It’s clear how much your hard work and uplifting personality are appreciated by everyone, so I’m delighted to see you recognised with this award.”
