Runwood Homes Launch Christmas Window Competition to Spread Christmas Cheer
This festive period, Runwood Homes launched their Christmas window initiative, to help spread some real holiday cheer. Starting from the 1st of December, every day Runwood Homes have featured a Christmas window display from a different home across the Group, making up a wonderfully festive Runwood Homes advent calendar. The window displays are showcased on the Runwood Homes social media platforms, including Facebook and LinkedIn.
From brilliantly created winter wonderlands, to Santa’s Grotto, homes across the Group have created some really fantastic and festive displays.
Paul Gaskell, Director of Wellbeing and Dementia Services, states that initiatives like this one have numerous benefits for the wellbeing of both residents and staff, and comments:
“When launching this initiative, our aim was really to give everyone the chance to come together and get creative for Christmas and show everyone who walks by or visits an uplifting, festive sight. There have been some amazing entries, and I have seen the pleasure they bring residents, and visitors. Residents have got so much out of this, and it has helped them add a sense of purpose, teamwork, belonging and achievement to the Festive month. The Managers can be rather competitive, also!”
The team at Low Furlong, in Shipston-on-Stour, Warwickshire, decided to create a really magical miniature Christmas village for their window display. Both residents and staff at the home are over the moon with how it turned out.
Patricia Roberts, a resident at Low Furlong, was very pleased with the Christmas window and commented:
“I thought it was absolutely splendid, the village in the window is fantastic, the lights on the outside of the building are just so lovely, the trees are beautiful and the blue lights are just spectacular!”
The initiative has been a huge success, with many homes taking part. Relatives and other members of the community have also loved seeing the displays at the home, in person and on the social media pages.
In the new year, the window displays will be judged by the Senior Team at Runwood Homes, and the winning home will receive a prize.
