Residents at Local Care Home are Visited by Local Pony!

“Residents and staff at Hugh Myddelton House care home, in Southgate were pleasantly surprised on 6th July, when a pony came to visit the home.

The friendly pony, named Scooby-Doo won the hearts of residents and staff at Hugh Myddelton House, when Des and Alfie from Performing Pets paid a visit to provide some much-needed animal therapy.

What a lovely treat for our residents to see their new furry friend roaming around their garden! Scooby-Doo even went into some of the residents’ rooms for some fresh fruit and vegetables and of course lots of cuddles. We just love seeing beaming faces when we bring the animals in.

General Manager Ramona Stanciu said:
“Our residents have really enjoyed their unusual visitor today. We knew that having the farm here would be a bit of fun for all our residents, especially as some find it difficult to go on many outings in our minibus. We are always looking for new activities for the residents and today we have seen the enjoyment and the therapeutic influence animals can have on people.”

Resident Dega was very excited by the Performing Pets’ pony:
“As a child I used to love all the animals on the nearby farm. Today was very enjoyable and it was wonderful that the pony was free to roam amongst us.”
