Resident At Local Care Home Gets On Track At Silverstone For DRIVE OF HIS LIFE…

Sutton-in-Ashfield’s newest care home, Kingfisher Court, approach days out a little differently than most care homes.

Car enthusiast Taff Jones who has a long history with automotive sport mentioned his love of fast cars and track events to staff at the home when he and his wife Irene moved in a few weeks ago.

Before long the whole team, including Taff and his family, had assessed, arranged and planned a special day out for the life-long motor sport fan at the home of British motor racing, Silverstone.

“It’s something Dad has always been keen to do – I’m only sorry that I am not able to join him as I am on holiday or I would have jumped at the chance”.  Morgan Barker, Taff’s Son.

Taff was eager to make the most of the day so was ready and waiting when Andrew Long, co-founder of the Oakdale Care Group arrived to accompany him on his trip to Silverstone. They met fellow co-founder Chris Babington at the race track who was there to greet them in his Ginetta G40 race car.

Taff, Chris and Andrew had a fantastic day which included Taff having a tour around the track in a Porsche Spider, dropping in at the race pits, race control and having lunch with a race team.

“One lucky Dad and Granddad – a big Thank You to the wonderful staff at Kingfisher Court.”  Cheryl Pitchford, Taff’s daughter.

Paul Quirk, Home Manager at Kingfisher Court, said, ”I am delighted and proud that we as a team always have our residents interests at heart and whilst not many residents’ interests will be motor racing, we are equally committed to incorporating as much of our residents interests as possible….. we really do take the time to get to know our residents which allows us to build up a better understanding of them, their history and what motivates and inspires them.
