People Supported At Eachstep Blackley, A Specialist Dementia Care Home In Manchester, Took To The Catwalk As They Hosted Their Very Own Fashion Show.

PeopleResidents, along with families, friends and staff, enjoyed a fun afternoon, which saw them model the Esther Martin range, a social enterprise that provides comfortable, stylish and affordable clothing to those who find it difficult to get out shopping.

The show was attended by over a 100 people. The afternoon event saw models – including family members and supporters of the home, as well as residents – showcase a host of summer styles for people of all ages.

Norma Nutter, a person supported at the home, was given a surprise when her young grandson, Jack, modelled at the event. They were joined by two Support Workers from EachStep Blackley’s sister service in Blackburn.

EachStep Blackley is a part of the social care charity, Community Integrated Care. It is a pioneering, £5 million dementia care service, based in North Manchester, which offers specialist respite care, and residential and nursing care. The home has been recognised at the likes of the National Care Awards and the National Dementia Awards.

Tiffany Lonergan, Service Administrator at EachStep Blackley, says: “Our ambition is to offer the people we support the most exciting events possible. We want them to have fantastic times with their families and loved ones, and to enjoy brilliant experiences.

“People have told us that they’ve never heard of a care home hosting a fashion show, and it’s a great example of the creative activities we offer in our home. Fashion is important to lots of us, so everyone had an amazing time, reminiscing about clothing and fashion. The show brought back lots of happy memories and created new ones too.”
