Next Steps On Winter Pressures In The NHS

Dame Barbara Hakin from NHS England and Jon Rouse from the Department of Health have produced a letter which sets out details of the Helping People Home team as well as £37m of additional funding that has now been made available to local authorities to support people being discharged from hospital over the coming weeks.

The letter gives details on the temporary National Helping People Home Team, which has been set up to help drive and co-ordinate action around out of hospital care to reduce Delayed Transfers of Care.

This is a joint NHS, Department of Health (DH), Department of Communities and Local Government (DCLG) and local government team headed by Mike Potts, a former PCT Chief Executive, with support from Hannah Miller, a former Director of Adult Social Care and Sarah Mitchell, Director of the Towards Excellence in Adult Social Care (TEASC) programme.
