The opening of a new specialist care home in Fazeley supported by the presence of fully trained staff and a registered manager 24 hours a day will create 50 new jobs, with the support of Yorkshire Bank.
Fazeley Junction, also known as The Boathouse, opened its doors at the end of June. The facility was developed by Midcroft Care on behalf of the Midway Care Group which has built and operates a number of care homes in the Midlands. The development was funded by Yorkshire Bank which provided a seven figure support package. The finance deal was delivered by Heather Griffin, Relationship Manager at the Bank’s Business and Private Banking Centre in Birmingham.
The new care home specialises in residential care and transitional services for individuals with learning disabilities and associated needs. It is split into three parts: an eight bed residential home, which includes a transitional training flat, and 12 apartments for shared supported housing.
Serving up to 20 residents at once, each with a care plan tailored to their needs, Fazeley Junction has taken advantage of new technology throughout the home which reduces the costs of care to the local authority as well as ensuring all residents live in an environment where rights, independence and choice are made a priority.
For example each of the 20 living areas has an electronic link to the staff care station which allows residents to contact staff directly, without having to wait for someone to come to them. Additional security systems have also been installed in the main residential home as well as the apartments to ensure resident safety.
The new care home increases the Midway Care Group portfolio to eleven developments since launching in 2006. The group currently provides care for 110 people across the Midlands and will look to double this number over the next five years as it expands its operation.
