National Care Home Open Day Celebrated in Camberley

20190629_125744Kings Lodge care home in Camberley joined forces with the towns Alzheimer’s Café to celebrate National Care Home Open Day.

Care Home Open Day is a national campaign established to bring communities into care homes to have a better understanding of the work they do.

Thousands of care homes across the UK take part each year, welcoming the public and arranging events and activities that help to create lasting links between care home residents and their local communities.

Guests and relatives of the residents enjoyed a full day’s entertainment of belly dancing, miniature ponies, jewellery making and a Greek themed barbeque.

Shawndell Barker is the manager at Kings Lodge for Aura Care Living and said: “It was a lovely day and was great to see so many of the local community come to see our residents and our lovely home; we had visitors from across the county come and visit and join in with the activities.

“Care home Open Day is an important date in the calendar and I think it is a great initiative to show people what we do here. We now have specialist dementia care and we want to educate people about this.”
