Monkeying Around – Care Home Residents Celebrate World Animal Day

Staff and residents at Barchester’s Cheverton Lodge care home in Islington were having a whale of a time when they celebrated World Animal Day on October 4th.

World Animal Day is an annual global event to celebrate all animals across the world. It aims to raise awareness of the importance of animal welfare and endeavours to raise standards for all animals around the globe.

Residents had a brilliant time talking about all different kinds of animals and their habitats, they reminisced about their own pets and had a visit from Performing Pets Pet Therapy who bought some feathered friends to visit.

General Manager, Krisztina Vadnai, said: “Our residents’ absolute favourite thing is animals, we often have visits from therapy pets because we know how much the residents love to interact with them. We also welcome our resident’s families to bring in their beloved pets. I think the animals love it just as much as we do, they get so much attention here – I don’t think they really want to leave!”

Our varied life enrichment programme keeps residents active, and provides a daily choice of engaging physical, mental and spiritual activities tailored to residents’ interests and abilities.

Cheverton Lodge is run by Barchester Healthcare, one of the UK’s largest care providers, which is committed to delivering high-quality care across its care homes and hospitals. Cheverton Lodge provides nursing care, residential care, respite and long term care.
