Man with Support Needs Hosts Once-in-a-Lifetime Elvis showcase

‘If I Can Dream’, an event dedicated to celebrating the music of Elvis Presley, will be hosted by Community Integrated Care, on Tuesday 26th July at 6.30pm, via acclaimed digital support resource: www.What-To-Do.co.uk. It will spotlight Elvis superfan, Paul, who is supported by the charity in Aberdeenshire.

Paul Nicoll, from Portlethen, will perform online to people who, like him, access care and support, alongside world-renowned Elvis tribute artist, Bob Morris. Inspired by the recent release of Baz Luhrman’s new Elvis biopic, Paul and Bob will be embracing their love of ‘The King’ by performing his classic hits, and encouraging others to sing along and join in the experience.

Paul regularly performs as Elvis at Create Aberdeen, a community organisation for adults who have support needs. He has also recently raised £2,000 for Cancer Research paying tribute to the rock ‘n’ roll legend and shaking his stuff in front of 3,000 people at Aberdeen’s Altens Hotel.

Paul said, “I’ve been performing as Elvis since I was seven years old. Before that, I always remember my Grandma singing Love Me Tender to her when I sat on her knee.

“I’m absolutely ecstatic and so excited for this online concert. I love becoming Elvis and dressing up like him. I’ve got the white jumpsuit, the ring and the gold medallion. I can’t wait.”

Cheshire-based Bob Morris has performed to audiences across the UK and internationally, helping to raise money for charities such as Francis House, the Together Trust and Blood Bike Manchester.

Bob said, “I am really pleased to be performing for Community Integrated Care and people who access social care. I’ve seen all of the amazing work that the charity does, especially over the last few years battling the Coronavirus pandemic, and it’s an absolute pleasure to put on this show for them.”

The event will be the first live musical performance hosted on What-To-Do.co.uk.

Created during the pandemic to tackle isolation and provide supportive communities for people accessing care, it has continued to provide vital entertainment and promote wellbeing among people who have support needs, as well as those working in the social care sector.

Community Integrated Care’s Digital Inclusion Manager, Sam Turner said, “At Community Integrated Care, we’re passionate about encouraging the people we support to share their talents and follow their dreams. What To Do is a fantastic platform for this as the opportunities are endless. This is going to be a really special event and I hope that seeing Paul performing alongside Bob inspires other people we support to follow their passions too.”
