Lorraine Kick-Starts Text Santa With Alzheimer’s Society Coverage

In the run-up to Text Santa (Friday 19 December) ITV’s Lorraine will be supporting Alzheimer’s Society with a range of films featuring people affected by dementia, celebrity interviews and lots more.

Through pre-recorded films, this week the nation was introduced to Mary, who is living with dementia, and her daughter Deborah. We also met 93-year-old Ray who has Alzheimer’s and lives on her own. Dementia support has played a crucial role in all their lives.

Bafta Award-winning actress Vicky McClure chatted to ITV’s Lorraine this morning (4 December). This is the first time Vicky McClure has spoken about her grandmother’s dementia to national television.

Other activity this week includes Dr Hilary Jones talking to Lorraine about dementia and answering viewers’ questions.

Lorraine herself is really getting into the spirit of Text Santa, and to help raise awareness of the cause she’s asking everyone to get involved with ITV’s virtual choir. Record yourself singing ‘Santa Claus is Coming to Town’ with Lorraine and send in your video for the chance to appear on the Lorraine show! See website for details on how to upload your video: www.itv.com/lorraine

Coming up over the next few weeks are more films of people affected by dementia, celebrity interviews and even a live broadcast from a dementia café on Monday 8 December.

Lorraine airs weekdays from 8.30am. You can catch up with all of the coverage this week on ITV Player: www.itv.com/itvplayer/lorraine
