Longest Serving Head Office Colleague At Nation’s Largest Care Provider Marks 35-Year Work Anniversary

A staff member working at the head office for the nation’s largest care provider has marked her 35-year work anniversary.

Fiona Dennis started working for Methodist Homes (MHA) back in 1991, which was around the time their head office opened in Derby.

Fiona joined MHA as a general assistant, before moving to becoming a payroll assistant, payroll administrator, senior payroll administrator, payroll adviser and is now working as a Human Resource Information Services (HRIS) adviser.

She is the longest serving head office colleague of the organisation and sixth longest across the whole organisation, which has over 6,000 employees.

To mark her achievement, Fiona was presented with her long service certificate, a bouquet of flowers and some sweet treats by Sue Harris, Head of Talent Acquisition and Shared Services.

Speaking after the presentation, Fiona said:
“To be honest I didn’t expect to be here for 35 years when I joined, but I am really happy I applied to work for MHA.

“My dad was a Methodist and saw the vacancy for the general assistant post in the Methodist Recorder, I applied for the role, got the job and the rest is history.

“Naturally there have been a lot of changes in the time I have worked here, but I really enjoy coming into work.

“It’s my colleagues that I work with that make it worthwhile, the support system we have around each other is great and the work culture has been consistent.

“I remember being here when this office opened, and soon we will be moving to another one, so it really does feel like I have been here a long time!

“As an organisation I feel proud to work for MHA, the work we do is amazing and the values resonate with me.

“There was one occasion where I applied for a role with another organisation, and I managed to get the job, but I couldn’t say yes and declined their offer.

“I can’t see myself working anywhere else now, I have gone through so many changes in my personal life whilst being here, I got married, had my children and grandchildren, so for me the only way I will leave is when I retire.

“I have managed to have a great career here at MHA and my advice to anyone thinking of joining MHA is to go for it, you will enjoy it, make plenty of friends and will always be supported.”
