Long Serving Care Home Worker Carer Of The Year

Amanda Care award 1A dedicated care home worker from High-Spen village who has spent over 17 years at Dovecote care home in Tyne and Wear has been recognised for her hard work, after being awarded Carer of the Year at the Co-Op Funeral Care Awards.

Award-winning Amanda Thacker, who was born and bred in Tyne and Wear, has a long track record of supporting the residents of Dovecote to live an active and fulling lives. Her service stretches back over 17 years, and she has risen to great heights at Dovecote after initially starting as a domestic worker.

Amanda has been the Activities Coordinator at Dovecote for over three years, prior to which she also held a position in the kitchen, where she earnt her Level 2 NVQ in Hospital Catering.

Since taking on her current role, Amanda has been bringing joy and excitement to the lives of residents through a creative programme of fun and engaging activities. This includes arts and crafts, animal therapy sessions, and even a spot of table tennis. Currently, Amanda is preparing a special Valentine’s Day surprise for Dovecote residents and their loved ones.

Amanda Thacker, Activities Coordinator at Dovecote, commented:
