Local Dignitaries Join Fairway View for Care Home Open Day

Fairway View care home in Bulwell, Nottingham, welcomed the local community and some special guests at the weekend when the home opened its doors for National Care Home Open Day.  Residents have been supported by staff to make arrangements for the event over the last few weeks and they were keen to invite local Councillor Eunice Campbell-Clark and the Sheriff of Nottingham, Glyn Jenkins, to join in the fun.

As well as other regular events at Fairway View, however National Care Home Open Day is an important date in the care home calendar where communities are invited to visit their local care home to meet and spend time with residents and staff.  The theme for this year’s Care Home Open Day is ‘Linking Communities’ and the idea is to help eliminate the preconceptions many people may have of care home life.

With the sunshine making an appearance at Fairway View, residents set about various activities such as flower arranging, arts and crafts, card games, quizzes and jigsaws.  Also joining in with the fun, much to the resident’s delight, was the Sheriff of Nottingham and residents were keen to have their pictures taken with the Sheriff as a lasting memory of the day.  The Sheriff said, Fairway View was more alive than any other care home I have visited, and the residents reflected that – it’s wonderful to see the residents are all so happy and that’s something you can’t fake”.

Councillor Eunice Campbell-Clark also visited to meet with her constituents.  As well as the local councillor, Eunice is also Older Persons Champion for Nottingham City Council and the Chair of Dementia and Age Friendly for Bulwell Forest Ward.  She was very complimentary about the home, remarking: “I loved my visit to Fairway View, seeing the good work the staff do to enhance the lives of the residents. The Ideal Carehomes’ all inclusive programme is a great way to make life easier for local people from my constituency and other areas of Nottingham.  I would recommend Fairway View to any of my constituents, friends and family looking for a care home.”

Fairway View is operated by Ideal Carehomes and offers personalised residential and dementia care to older people from Bulwell and the surrounding areas.  Residents live at the luxury home on an all inclusive basis, enjoying the modern facilities without additional fees.  The home has a specialist Lifestyle Manager who arranges regular trips, events and activities according to resident preferences and staff have access to the latest care plan technology enabling them to devote more time to their residents.
