Local Carer’s Trevi Fountain Wish Comes True
A remarkable story has unfolded at Manorcourt Home Care Thurrock Branch, part of the Healthcare Homes Group, involving one of their dedicated carers, Vanessa Cox. After recently returning from a holiday in Rome, Vanessa fulfilled a special request from one of Manorcourt’s service users that led to a moment of joy.
Before her trip, a service user asked Vanessa to throw a coin into the iconic Trevi Fountain in Rome and make a wish for his daughter-in-law, who was eagerly waiting to “Ring the Bell” after completing her cancer treatment. Vanessa took this heartfelt request with her and ensured that the coin found its way into the fountain.
In a poignant coincidence, on the very day that Vanessa made the wish, the service user’s daughter-in-law “rang the bell,” celebrating the successful end of her treatment.
To recognise Vanessa’s kindness and the positive impact of her actions, the team at Manorcourt Home Care decided to honour her with a special pin badge that reads “I Make a Difference.” Julie, Vanessa’s Field Care Supervisor, presented the badge to her, and Vanessa was visibly moved as she accepted it. She was encouraged to wear the badge proudly on her uniform as a reminder of the difference she has made in the lives of those she cares for.
“Vanessa’s kindness and thoughtfulness exemplify the care and dedication that all of our employees strive to provide,” said Karen Garratt, Manager at Manorcourt Home Care Thurrock Branch. “The team is incredibly proud of her and the positive impact she has on the community and the people she cares for.”
