Local Care Home Turns ‘Mini-Zoo’ for World Animal Day

Staff and residents at Barchester’s Cubbington Mill care home in Leamington Spa had a whale of a time celebrating International World Animal Day on Tuesday 4th October.

World Animal Day was started in 1931 in order to highlight the plight of endangered species and is celebrated by animal lovers across the globe.

To celebrate, residents and staff alike got into the spirit of things by getting up close to a wide array of mini creatures including cheeky chinchillas, and basking bearded dragons courtesy of ‘Animal Mania’.

General Manager, Laura Russell said:
“Our residents and staff love the chance to interact with animals, so to have a day dedicated to them was something very special. We’ve had a great day meeting some new furry friends… and the odd scaly one too! It’s been fantastic.”

A resident at Cubbington Mill said:
“It has been a fun day. I never thought I’d hold a lizard, they’re really quite friendly and very warm.”
