Kent Care Home Leader Wins International Business Award
A Kent-based care home entrepreneur has been recognised on the global stage after being named a winner in the prestigious Stevie Awards for Women in Business.
Umbreen David, Managing Director of Hoama Group Ltd and operator of Iden Manor Nursing Home in Kent, secured victory in the Best Female Entrepreneur Business Services category at the 22nd annual awards programme. She will discover whether her achievement earns bronze, silver or gold recognition at a gala ceremony in New York on 10 November.
The Stevie Awards for Women in Business celebrate the achievements of female executives, entrepreneurs and employees worldwide. Dubbed “the world’s premier business award,” the programme attracted more than 1,500 entries from 48 nations and territories this year, with finalists selected by over 190 international business professionals across seven judging panels.
Umbreen’s recognition stems from her transformational leadership at Iden Manor Nursing Home, where she has established new benchmarks in person-centred care for elderly residents. The judges praised her visionary approach to social care and her commitment to excellence in the sector.
Currently spearheading the Meadow View project – an innovative 70-bed care facility in the design phase – David is drawing on her personal experience living with muscular dystrophy to create an accessible and therapeutic environment that prioritises resident wellbeing.
Her leadership philosophy centres on integrity, authenticity, family values, and growth, while advocating for disabled leadership representation across industries and promoting recognition of social care’s vital contribution to society.
The international accolade follows David’s earlier success this year when she claimed the Stelios Award for Disabled Entrepreneurs 2025, reinforcing her standing as a prominent figure in both social care innovation and disabled leadership advocacy.
“To be recognised among such extraordinary women in business is an honour – especially for work rooted in care, community, and innovation,” said David. “This nomination reflects not only my journey as a founder, but also the work we do at Hoama Group, my commitment to mentoring entrepreneurs, advocating for disabled leadership, and redesigning what care can be. I’m proud to represent the UK on a global stage.”
The awards ceremony, expected to host more than 400 women and guests from around the world, will be broadcast live from New York. Maggie Miller, president of the Stevie Awards, commented: “Now in its 22nd year, the Stevie Awards for Women in Business attracted an exceptional range of nominations. We are continually inspired by how meaningful it is for women to receive a Stevie Award and the lasting impact it can have on their careers and organisations.”
