Joan The Poet Invited To Read At The Loganberry Lodge Dementia Café

Loganberry Lodge care home in Stanway, Colchester, invited Joan and friends from Howard Court to share her book of beautifully written poems at their latest dementia café.

The dementia café has become a staple monthly feature at Loganberry Lodge care home, bringing the community together to understand the effects of dementia on their loved ones, whilst enjoying a cup of coffee and a natter.

Joan, who currently lives with dementia, was invited to share her collection of poems about her journey in life to residents at Loganberry Lodge and the children at Monkey Puzzle day nursery.
This month’s dementia café took place during Dementia Action Week, offering the care home the perfect opportunity to educate and inform in unique ways.

Joan, resident from Howard Court care home, said:
“I want to thank Loganberry Lodge for inviting me, it is such a joy to share my poems with the children.”
Care Assistant, Sam, at Loganberry Lodge care home, said: “It was so lovely to see the residents enjoying their time with the children, Joan was fantastic and is a true inspiration.”
