Ipswich Care Home Undergoes Major Refurbishment
Amore Care, part of the Priory Group of Companies, is investing £270,000 in a major refurbishment and expansion programme at The Orwell Nursing Home in Ipswich.
The refurbishment will include new en suite walk in showers, a new communal area leading on to the garden, carpets, furniture and an extra bedroom. In addition to the interior improvements, the garden will also be undergoing a makeover. Following the revamp, the care home will also be making available ten bedrooms that were previously unused.
Residents at the care home will play an essential part to the refurbishment, putting forward their ideas for new colour schemes that they would like throughout the care home.
Amore Care offers residential, nursing and dementia care to older people with varying levels of need. The Orwell Nursing Home, based on Vicarage Lane, provides care for up to 40 older people, including those requiring dementia care.
Kathleen Perreira, care home manager at The Orwell Nursing Home said: “It is testament to the quality of the care we provide that Amore Care has chosen The Orwell Nursing Home to be one of the homes to benefit from a major investment and everyone is really looking forward to seeing the results of the refurbishment.
“A care home environment is important for the residents and we believe the changes will make a big difference. The residents will really enjoy helping to choose colour schemes and getting to share their ideas and are looking forward to using the new facilities.”
76-year-old Brian Roper, a resident at The Orwell Nursing Home, said: “The new refurbishment will really make our lovely home even more special. It is important that the residents are able to help choosing colour schemes and be fully involved in the redecoration and we will enjoy helping to decide how the home will look. We are all excited to see the results.”
