Ipswich Care Home Staff Member to Take Part in Virtual Challenge to Support Amenity Fund

A staff member at an Ipswich based care home will be covering more than 260 miles to raise funds for the home’s amenity fund.

Sergio Ishmael has been working at MHA Norwood since 2017 and has decided to virtually trek from his home in Norwood to Belgium, more than 260 miles in two weeks.

He has set up a GoFundMe page where the amount raised will be going towards the amenity fund, which will be used for additional social and wellbeing activities at the home.

Currently the amount raised is £836 which is an incredible achievement considering the challenge doesn’t start until 11 April and runs to 24 April.

Sergio, 38, said: “ I always wanted to do something different to support the home and was on the lookout for some virtual activities.

“With the dates approaching I am hoping to start some cardio training to get me into the right frame of mind.

“I plan to trek 20 miles a day, using some of my time during work and in the evenings and I am looking forward to starting the challenge.

“The response so far has been amazing, initially I had a target of £500 and we have already smashed that so I am very grateful for the support shown.

“The challenge hasn’t even started yet and to reach more than £800 is a great achievement and I can’t thank those who have donated enough.

“The money raised will go a long way in supporting me to organise more activities for residents and I am very thankful to everyone who has helped.”
