Ingleby Care Home Raises Hundreds In Dementia Awareness Week Fundraising

A STOCKTON care home has raised hundreds of pounds to help elderly residents living with dementia.

Ingleby Care Home organised a 5km sponsored walk around Tees Barrage and a supermarket bag pack as part the Alzheimer’s Society’s Dementia Awareness Week.

The two activities raised almost £450, which will go towards sensory equipment for residents living with dementia at the home, on Lamb Lane in Ingleby Barwick.

The care home’s activities coordinator, Kirsty Walsh, also organised a lunch date at The Myton Farm Pub for two care homes in Ingleby Barwick.

Twenty-four residents from Ingleby Care Home were joined by six from Roseville Care Home to enjoy a three-course meal and entertainment.

Kirsty said: “We mark Dementia Awareness Week every year as the Alzheimer’s Society is a charity close to our hearts.

“We have specialist residential dementia care at Ingleby Care Home and look after many residents living with the condition. We know the importance of keeping our residents active and engaged.

“Dementia Awareness Week always gives us another opportunity to work with the local community to raise funds and run activities that really benefit our residents.

“We’d like to thank everyone who took part in the sponsored walk and the Myton Farm Pub for hosting the lunch date.”
